Custom Fly-In Fishing

Northwest Territories, Canada

A scenic 20 minute float plane ride in a Cessna Caravan or a Twin Otter, will take you to the only lodge on Hearne Lake, a private lake, 40 miles East of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada (map). Here, Don and Lucile Stretch offer a custom fly-in fishing lodge catering to a maximum of 8 which insures that you'll get that personal touch you so deserve. For expert advice on fishing, ask Don. For a great meal, ask Lucile.

The lodge operates from mid-June to mid-September, from Saturday to Saturday. Flights in are usually booked for noon, please keep this in mind when you make your travel arrangements. (With a full group of 8, the time can be changed to accommodate).

Hearne Lake Lodge strongly supports Catch and Release

Let's talk fishing at Hearne Lake Lodge

You will have the opportunity to fish 5 species of fish; the Northern Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, and Lake Whitefish. The Walleye and Arctic Grayling are taken in the Beaulieu River System. The day trip up the river is a scenic cruise, during which you can spot the local wildlife (eagles, bear, moose, loons, and other birds).

Hearne Lake is 13 miles long. The structure and depth of the lake varies. Lots of islands throughout just waiting to be named by you! Take a day trip to the Inlet Falls and catch that elusive Arctic Grayling. With two sets of falls the water is always clear and clean.

If you want to catch lots of fish, any size, you'll want to try the many bays along the shoreline. The Northern Pike abound and you can have hours of fun. The water is alwasy clean and cold, it is a thrill to watch the fish take that lure!

For the Lake Trout, vertical jigging, trolling or downrigging (supplied with the boat) are all effective methods.

Hearne Lake Lodge has been a strong supporter of Catch and Release since day one except for the traditional shore lunch. We ask our guest to use barbless hooks; all you need to do is pinch the barb down. With today's technology and conservation minded generation, the plastic replica along with your picture is the only solution to ensure that your children and grandchildren can enjoy fishing as much as you do.

In the Land of the Midnight Fishing, your boat and equipment are at your disposal 24 hours a day. Many of our guests take advantage of the very enjoyable evening fishing, which always produces a good quantity as well as quality of fish.
