We offer the best in Personal Service!

You will enjoy Garden Island Lodge for its sandy beach, hot showers, sauna, and courteous efficient service at the docks morning and evening. With only 8 private cottages we are able to offer the best in personal, friendly service in a warm family-like atmosphere.

Having the finest location on Lady Evelyn Lake (map), Garden Island offers the avid fisherman 19,000 acres of water to explore for such species as trophy sized walleye, small mouth bass, northern pike, lake trout, brook trout and whitefish. Don't forget your camera as the scenery is spectacular, and the wildlife abundant!

As we are accessible only by air, or water, our tranquil setting offers a vacation that anyone will enjoy.

The Lodge

The Lodge Garden Island Lodge is a remote fishing camp located on a 12 acre island at the western end of Lady Evelyn Lake. Lady Evelyn Lake and connecting lakes (Suckergut Lake, Willow Island Lake, Chris Willis Lake, Tupper Lake, and Hobart Lake), form a fisherman's and nature lover's paradise of 20,000 acres of water that is accessible only by boat, or by air; as there are no roads into Lady Evelyn you will never be bothered by highway noises.

We have 8 private cabins sleeping between 2 and 6 people (larger groups are given adjacent cabins), with 3-piece bath, propane heat, and electric lighting. We limit the number of guests to 24 to 26 adults per week in order to assure each person the personal service for which Garden Island has become renown. The sauna islocated next to the lodge. The cabins are 75 to 100 feet apart to give privacy to each party, yet each cabin maintains a spectacular view of the lake.

Our breakfast menu includes among other things, pancakes and sausages, scrambled eggs and ham, bacon and eggs, toast and jam; while our dinners include lasagna with garlic bread and salad, roast turkey with all the trimmings, roast pork and apple sauce, crispy chicken and rice, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, shepherds pie, and many other favorites. We pack a shore lunch for you take out on the lake daily. Our meals have been very highly rated by our guests. Second helpings are always available. We are also prepared to serve special dietary meals for those with individual needs at no extra cost.

The Boats

The rental of our deluxe Sylvan 16 1/2 ft. boats, complete with vinyl carpeting, swivel seats, Eagle Magna III fish finders, live well, automatic bailing pump, running lights, bait buckets, landing nets, anchor, and powered by new year 2001, 25 horse power electric start outboard motor is included in our all-inclusive package price. All the gas and live bait is also included. One boat is supplied for each two adults.

Great Fishing!

Walleye (18.5 pounds is the current lodge record) is the most sought after species of fish in the lake. However, we also have northern pike (26 pounds), smallmouth bass (8.5 pounds), and whitefish, as well as lake trout (45 pounds), and brook (speckled) trout (8 pounds) in some of the remote lakes and streams (please realize these are lodge records. Don't expect to catch fish of these sizes on a regular basis). We keep boats or canoes on several walk-in lakes in the immediate area. These lakes are all within 1000 yards of the main lake; one is only 50 feet! We can also arrange for a day long fly-in experience into some rarely accessed lakes. You would fly into the lake right after breakfast, and be flown back for a late supper that evening.

Walleye fishing is quite consistent through out the year, with greater numbers usually being caught earlier in the year (May-June-July) and larger fish later in the year ( Aug-Sept.). Northern Pike fishing is best in May-June & Sept. Smallmouth season opens the last Saturday in June and catches get better from then through Sept.

Our Special Touch

We take great pride in the level of service offered at the lodge, including such things as cleaning your daily catch, showing your party the prime fishing spots during our Lake Orientation Tour on Saturday evening, fueling and cleaning your boat daily, supplying you automatically with fresh bait each morning and evening, drying off damp seats, and many other things too numerous to mention. Each week our staff cooks up a shore lunch with fresh walleye, onions, beans and french fries shared by the whole camp. You will always find any member of our staff willing to go that extra step to make your vacation as memorable and as relaxing as possible.
