It's important to appreciate how the Business Strategy Game evolved. The paradigm, algorithms, and formulas that drive this game were developed over a period of years by Dr. Giuseppe Audia, Ph.D. London School of Business and University of Maryland College of Business. Perspective Visuals, Inc. working closely with Dr. Audia over these years has engineered the overall game design and multi-media interfaces. Hundreds of formulas are used in capturing the interdependencies of business decisions and processes. The software has been empirically validated through a rigorous cross correlation of performance and strategic decisions using thousands of students and business professionals. Finance, advertising, research and development, marketing, cost containment, and demographics are but a few of the categories that you will face as CEO of Celcom21. For example, if Financing is acquired in order to purchase a new Market, advertising and sales force decisions are logical processes to execute as well. More intricate relationships might involve forming an Alliance with a company specializing in cellular transmission technology thus urging your company to co-invest in cellular transmission Research and Development as well as begin offering new services in that Market sector. The domino effect will soon be evident as each player strives to keep his company in the black. Through thousands of students and professional businesss men and women playing this game around the world the results prove conclusive that the more intricate a player considers the dependencies of each action the better his outcome. Some people lose their shirts while others become masters of the Business Strategy Game. Only the sharpest, most intelligent, and razor-edged individuals will retire as CEO. |
Detailed Reviews & History Files
Also, during the game each player can review his Past Performance and Past Strategic Decisions to aid in plotting his next course of action. Detailed Performance Reviews are also available which include (Revenue, Direct Costs, Direct Sales Force, Dealers Commission, Advertising, R&D, General Expenses, Operating Profit (Loss), Shareholders Equity, Long Term Debt, Short Term Debt, Total Investments, Available Funds, and Total Subscribers). All decisions and outcomes are logged for potential analysis/grading/comparison by an instructor. History files are created as well. These files are output in such a way so that anyone can easily import the files into a spreadsheet application such as EXCEL for analysis of any player's performance and comparison against other player performances. |
